Our story of 2019: Silver Fox gives back

Act Seven

December 15, 2019

A couple years ago, we ran a blog series reflecting on how we can give back to our community in a sustainable and meaningful way. This resulted in a partnership with the Arc of King County, lending our design support to help their organization and brand their annual Gala. Soon after, we partnered with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation for their flag football fundraising event at Seahawk Stadium. Team Silver Fox scored eleven touchdowns!

Building on the success of these community partner relationships, we are looking to expand our community outreach efforts by forming our first Community Outreach Committee. We are embarking on this new chapter with a fresh outlook and a new set of goals.

  • Provide design support for a local non-profit organization throughout the calendar year.
  • Execute at least one fundraising drive during the calendar year, unrelated to the cause of our community partner.
  • Execute at least one volunteer day, with the goal of increasing participation in the office.

Our Community Outreach Committee is newly formed, but we have hit the ground running. I am excited to announce our holiday fundraising drive for Amara. Our Community Outreach Committee has been hard at work the past few months thoughtfully planning this drive for such an incredible local organization.

A little about Amara

Amara works with kids in the foster care system, providing support throughout all stages of the fostering process to help them feel safe, welcome, and important. Critically, Amara’s Emergency Sanctuary’s provide a home for kids to stay in for up to three days immediately after they are removed from their homes. Many kids enter foster care with only a few belongings, usually carried in a trash bag. The Emergency Sanctuary ensures that by the time they leave, each child has at least 3 days’ worth of clothing and a nice backpack in which to carry their things.

About our drive

In the spirit of the holidays we set up a giving tree in the office. Each item has its own gift tag with a description of the item needed. We set a goal of filling duffel bags with items, each bag complete with a package of underwear, socks, tops and bottoms, and a toy. We are thrilled with the participation in our office and are pleased to say we were able to donate 30 items to Amara this season!

What’s next for us?

Our committee is working on some exciting projects for the upcoming year and we hope to inspire everyone at Silver Fox to be engaged with our outreach efforts.

And with Act 7, that is a wrap for Our Story of 2019. What an amazing year full of growth both culturally and professionally. We are looking forward to the challenges and successes that 2020 will bring Silver Fox. Thank you for reading!
